Our town Novograd-Volynsky has the status of a small homeland of Lesia Ukrainka. It was here that Lesia Ukrainka was born, and a few years before moving to Lutsk lived a famous Kosach family. And in late June, the town became a space for the Lesia Grand Fest as a social festival of musical space and contemporary art in the open air format. Where did the idea of such a festival come from, why Lesya in his name, how to successfully hold a festival under the “wall” of rain, which is planned next year? On a powerful stage of the Lesia Grand Fest, many Ukrainian bands and performers, including Barahta, Stanislav brothers, Arkadii Voitiuk, Druha Rika, Letay, Lords of Sound, Shoste Chuttia and others performed on the powerful stage of the Lesia Grand Fest. The first day was a bright festival of colors – Holi, and on the eve of the Zhytomyr festival artist Dmitry Krab in Novograd-Volynsky created a morale on one of the buildings – a portrait image of Lesya Ukrainka.

“We define Lesia Grand Fest as an all-Ukrainian music festival. The idea of the festival belongs to my husband Alexander Shyrokopoyas. We come from Zhytomyr region, we believe that such a festival has long been on the musical map of Ukraine. And Lesya Ukrainka in the name of the festival, in our opinion, can unite young people from all over the country. … Strolling along the river Sluch, we liked the place, it is here that the festival is being held. “” The festival will be an annual one. Let’s leave the best bands this year and invite even more famous performers of the next. Keep the names secret. We also leave the night of acoustics. We plan to attract foreign artists. The establishment of an all-Ukrainian record for the most massive performance of the verse “Contra spem spero!” Lesia Ukrainka was postponed until 2019. Now we expand and increase the zones of the festival, improve the tent camp … And in general, we send all the forces to the quality of the festival. Also, a lot of new products will be waiting for visitors, which you will soon find out. “” Rainy weather significantly created barriers only during the third day – June 30. All musical equipment power could not be used in accordance with the safety precautions. For visitors and artists, they bought raincoats. Despite steady rain, there were a lot of people close to the evening. According to the issued bracelets, the statistics of the visit to the festival are as follows: June 28 – 4 thousand, June 29 – 6 thousand, June 30 – 5 thousand. In total, 15 thousand people in 3 days. “” Lesia Ukrainka was also a skillful musician, and the Kosach family always had a group of talented people from all over Ukraine. For us Lesia Ukrainka – as a symbol that will help us to bring thousands of people together every year around good music and artistic atmosphere. ”

“I noticed in the information flow announcements about the Lesia Grand Fest almost immediately after its launch. Immediately felt that the event was close to me. “Holding” my reader’s attention as a literary name, in essence, the dedication of Lesya Ukrainka, and a list of invited musicians, performers – and well-known headliners and those who “untwist”, but publishing interesting, modern music (I say it as a listener -manager) And thirdly, the geographical “lighthouse” – this is very close. So the plan to visit this festival was active for me in advance – somewhere in half a year. “” How did he, the plan, came true? Perfectly! We went to the festival with friends and colleagues. The organizers of Olha and Sashko Shyrokopoias supported the invitation of the organizers and one day, June 29, they held a children’s and “adult” children a creative line of master classes. They created postcards with a shaker and still felt accessories – scarlet brooches and floral decorations of various colors and “varieties”. In our creative proposals we have also invested messages and, I will say, artistic and decorative signs associated with Lesya Ukrainka. For example, her creativity makes it clear that flowers are one of the favorite motifs of the author. And leaflets encouraged us to pay attention to the artist’s epistolary heritage. Certainly, many people mention, first of all, her private letter “Your letters always smell like obligatory roses …” A letter, leaflets, created by myself – this is an elegant way to save memories, impressions and share them with someone else’s relatives who are close to you even at the time electronic messages “” We worked under sound checks in the open space near the Sluch River, and already felt the grandiose scope of the festival. His grand realization through the team of coordinators, managers and volunteers is evident. As for me, the festival of All-Ukrainian level begins in Novograd-Volynsky.
