Is the holiday brighter than Christmas? Lighting lights, Christmas trees are decorated with bright toys, and little children fade in anticipation of miracles and gifts. The feast in honor of Jesus’ birth took on the ancient traditions of medieval festivals, which took place thousands of years before the religion began its existence. Whoever did not make the effort and imagination to create the colorful Christmas fantasy that we love today!
Christmas trees and decorations for home
It is believed that it was the German Protestant reformer Martin Luther (1483-1546) who was the first to decorate the tree, just like we decorate a festive Christmas tree today. December night on the eve of the holidays, he was impressed by the beauty of the stars and their glitter, added to the festive image of evergreen candle trees. Now for Christmas, Christmas trees are decorated with flashlights, candles or toys.
Assemblies on the eve of Christmas in many countries of the world are more similar to the scenery of traditional Christmas performances: there are nurseries with the figures of the infant Jesus and Virgin Mary. In the manger, usually straw is placed, which is one of the main characters of Christmas. It was the straw that Mary covered the feeder in which she put her newborn son Jesus. Decorate their homes as well as Christmas wreaths, and the most beloved decorations are those that the children produce themselves.
Christmas Eve
By tradition, before Christmas, they follow a very strict fasting, especially during the day before Christmas. Catholic believers have the tradition to cook and eat only this day soups – wheat or barley, boiled in water and seasoned with honey. The post stops with the appearance of the first star in the sky.
Christmas mass
Evening Catholic Mass on the eve of Christmas is an integral part of the traditional celebration. People gather in churches where they read the heads of the Old Testament and turn to memories of the biblical events associated with the birth of the infant Jesus. On the eve of Christmas churches from the very morning receive parishioners for confession and repentance on their walls.
Holiday meal
Christmas dinner begins in Catholic families with prayers and tasting of cloaks – fresh bread. Usually decoration of the table is a song of dishes, which symbolize, first of all, health and wealth: vegetable salads, apples, honey, nuts, raisins, vegetables, celery. In addition, there is necessarily a fish on the table. Traditionally, poultry and meat can be served only until the second Christmas meal, which is already on December 25th.
The cry of the Catholic traditions of Christmas is that at the festive table always leave one empty space for an unexpected guest. Who would not come to the owners’ dwelling on Christmas Eve, he becomes a welcome guest.
Carols
Christmas carols are a symbol of goodness and happiness. They are singing in their own families at the Christmas table, praying for the welfare and health of all its members. Some young men dress out in traditional costumes and roam home with their neighbors and friends, singing ritual songs.
The most desirable attributes of the celebration
Christmas presents and the making of desires is the most important part of the holiday, especially for children. Not surprisingly, because both the boy and the adults believe in the Christmas wishes. All that we sincerely wish the whole soul, which carries a good life-giving energy, is surely fulfilled.
So leave your heart for a little miracle in your heart. And believe that it will happen!
