Their creators try to put the plot as concisely as possible in a small number of series, so that viewers are fully involved in the events and at the same time not bored in anticipation of the next season. We have compiled a selection of exciting miniseries that can be viewed even on a smartphone for one cold weekend

«Patrick Melrose» The protagonist is an English aristocrat and intellectual who seems to have everything for a happy life. But the tendency to reflect on the traumas his father inflicted on him as a child prevents Patrick from severing ties with the past, even as an adult. This path led the hero to debauchery, addiction to alcohol and drugs. One day, Patrick learns that the cause of self-destruction is now gone – his father died. The man has a chance to start all over again, but the war with the demons is not over. The dramatic five-part series about the external luster and skeletons in the closet of the British aristocracy is based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the modern British writer Edward St. Obin. «When They See Us» A miniseries based on real events that strike with blatant injustice: a story about police arbitrariness and accusations of innocent people. The series unfolds the story of what happened to five black teenagers from Harlem. Back in 1989, the boys were arrested on suspicion of assaulting and raping banker Trisha Mellie, who was jogging in New York’s Central Park. Despite disagreements over the innocence of the detainees, police officers are able to obtain the necessary information and obtain a long prison sentence for the boys. The four-episode series is a story of confrontation between black teenagers and the system, justice and punishment.

«Family Marriage» This series with a non-trivial plot is quite real to watch in one evening: ten episodes last no more than two hours. The couple Tom and Louise are on the verge of divorce. Every week, the couple visits a family psychotherapist, but before each session they meet in a London pub, where they discuss topics that will be raised during family therapy. Doctor’s sessions make the characters remember all the happy moments of married life, and now they can be happy. But only on one condition: if they hear each other.

«Pretending» This series is an anthology of real crimes. At the heart of the stunning eight-episode psychological series is journalist Michel Dean’s 2016 article, «Dee Dee Wanted Her Daughter To Be Sick and Gypsy Wanted Her Mother To Be Killed». In the center of the plot is mother Dee Dee Blanchard, who has been caring for Gypsy,her sick daughter, for all her life. Gypsy has paralysis, epilepsy, heart murmurs, asthma and development at the level of a seven-year-old child. But the symptoms of the disease are caused only by the imagination of the mother. «The Slippery Way» A successful and charismatic British politician, the exemplary family man Peter Lawrence «plays by the rules». He is doing great: he recently won a scandalous defamation case and proved his innocence in a corruption case. Peter is well aware that scandals are detrimental to his political career, but he inadvertently falls back into scandal. If his wife or the public finds out about the details, Peter’s life will go awry. In search of a way out, the hero chooses a slippery slope of lies: in his opinion, only this can give a chance to preserve his reputation. I wonder if it’s worth it… The unique Hugh Laurie starred in the four-part British miniseries.
