Free Comics Day is the only day when comic book stores around the world give them absolutely free to anyone who goes to bookstores. This day is usually held on the first Saturday of May each year. We decided to tell what books it would be lucky to receive as a gift for connoisseurs of comics
Jody Hauser «Stranger Things»
The series «Stranger Things» – stories about mysterious monsters, a girl with superpowers and a bunch of references to the 80’s. This is a surprisingly pleasant graphic novel, where the comic turned out to be deeper than the series. This comic is a look at the events through the eyes of one of the heroes, Will. If you’ve watched the show, you know the finale of season one, but some of the adventures that Will faces will definitely interest you. If you are a true fan of TV series and love graphic novels, be sure to read this detailed story about the fate of the characters and their emotions. And from the graphics just ants on the skin!

Warren Ellis, Declan Shelvey «The Moon Knight. From the dead»
Unsurpassed illustrations and surprisingly interesting stories about the Moon Knight and Mark Spector – a man in a mask. The characters are so fantastic that comic book readers think about mysticism and delusions. However, the Knight, powerfully mastering martial arts and various cool technologies, really fights evil in the style of Batman. The book is a separate volume of six issues, each of which is a separate story.

Matt Fraction, Salvador Larroca «The Invincible Iron Man. Volume 1. Five Nightmares»
This graphic novel is the world of Tony Stark, which combines high technology, political intrigue and human stories. In addition to the main character, there are several key characters in the work: Iron Man, who has a lot of strength due to his armored suit and ability to fly; Ezekiel Jones, ready to destroy Tony Stark and his legacy. Such plot intricacies allow us to tell wonderful stories about Tony Stark’s struggle with war and personal demons, about the Iron Man technology, which is used by anyone but him. And this comic has a philosophical basis – together with the hero, we think about the responsibility for their actions.

Neil Gaiman «Marvel 1602»
Marvel 1602 is a limited series of eight comics published in 2003 by Marvel Comics. Neil Gaiman has always been a fan of Marvel, and editor Joe Quesada approached him with a proposal to work on a project that eventually became «1602». The success of the comic prompted the authors to continue, and so did «1602: New World», «Marvel 1602: Fantastic Four» and «Spider-Man: 1602».
The novel contains a large number of historical references to the beginning of the seventeenth century from the time of Queen Elizabeth I to the Spanish Inquisition. Readers will definitely pay attention to the changes in the names of the characters, which deepen the atmosphere and connect different time intervals, appreciate all the plot intrigues created by the author, and stylized illustrations.

Neil Gaiman «Books of Magic»
At first glance, Timothy Hunter is an ordinary boy, but it just seems so. The boy’s life changes when he has mentors: John Constantine, Dr. Occult, Mr. E and The Stranger. The four chapters of this book are the journeys he makes with each of the mentors.
The first voyage – through the past, the second – through the present, the third… Actually, we will do without spoilers. We will reveal only one intrigue: in the book you will see a huge number of real and fictional creatures, with which, like the hero, you will travel in worlds, time and space.
This book will help answer important questions. For example, learn what it means to be human, what imagination is and why it is needed.

From the editors We hope that our book reviewer has convinced readers that comics are not just a «picture book».

One undeniable advantage of this genre is for sure: real heroes and heroines always win! Read and you will find out.
