Getting acquainted with a new book is the same as with a new person. When a book is full of knowledge, it touches a raw nerve and only gives advice but doesn’t moralize; doesn’t impress with its perfection but makes you smarter and undeceives to discover something new. Precisely this book has been presented by Pabulum press and Rostyslav Semkiv, the author, literary critic and juror of various literature awards.
Traditionally a presentation of a new book, unveiled by Pabulum express, has been held in Lviv Chocolate Workshop. The aim of the press is publishing and popularization of Ukrainian non-fiction books which will impact on creative and intellectual development of society. Isn’t it the thing Ukrainian readers’ community tends to achieve?
Dmytro Stretovych, one of press founders sets grown-up goals to achieve: making and popularization of quality Ukrainian-speaking publishing product and developing of demand on non-fiction literature. Popular-scientific and reference literature, describing of countries and cities in adventurers’ notes, feature material and even essays introduce readers to distant and difficult things in a simple and understandable way.
Those authors who work in a style of non-fiction now, used to be physicist Stephen Hawking and writer Truman Capote.
One of those who adore non-fiction literature is an author of a book “The way critics wrote” Rostyslav Semkiv. That’s why he partook, relying on friends’ recommendations and helping those who wish to write own creative masterpieces.
Patronizing tone, superficialism and arrogant style of telling a story – this is not about our author. Rostyslav Semkiv not only lets us get acquainted with his book “The way classics wrote”, but tells us about writers’ lives who became the main figures of the book. In other words, a lot of people can write, important thing is how much effort future author is ready to put. Of course, number of those who wish to write is bigger than the number of students in Humanities Universities. Loads of people nowadays are willing to share their own experience got while travelling or working on positions which are limited for most of public. Any kind of story turns out to be more effective, if a person owns writing skills. It’s clear that pieces of advice for those who want to write fiction and for advertisers or journalists differ but figurants of book as G. Orwell and K. Vonnegut wrote not only fiction. In Western Europe and worldwide informal courses of artwork is an old hat. That’s why Pabulum creative writing or press center has prepared courses of pencraft with twenty lections where not only professors from university teach, but also famous writers as Oksana Zabuzhko or Andrii Zhadan. However, the number of visitors to the course is limited from different reasons.
That’s why the idea of creating a book has appeared, covering wider auditoria with giving guidance to bigger amounts of interested people. The more writes exist, the better writers appear in bigger numbers, so vigorous texts mustn’t get lost, Rostyslav Semkiv is assured.
