«There was a moment in my childhood that opened to me the road to creativity. In the fourth grade the teacher put a bad mark for my picture, because my flag differed, it seems, in color from others. And yes, then it was impossible – Soviet society required accurate copying in the classroom drawing, and in life. This is what we are aiming for now during the classes create all the conditions for the child to be expressed, and then originality was not encouraged. I was sorry and ashamed. That day it turned out that the wall newspaper is not ready, but on the extended group day I was left alone. I had to draw that one newspaper, despite the insult. «Art requires balance. Each of original creative products has several stages in creation. The first and most important is the search for an idea. And its source can be anything: verses,ancient legend, sounds of music, pattern on frozen window, ornate roots and trees, communication with an interesting person. In their search I turn to sacred and cosmological symbolism of Ukrainian folk art, the content of which rooted in ancient civilizations, in particular I rely on the artistic and figurative ideas of the people of Trypillia. It is very sad to see children’s art competitions perfectly executed works, but not creative. Why? For the easiest way to borrow a ready-made idea on the Internet, and to invent something original is not for everyone. The second stage is the search for equipment in which the work will be performed. The third stage is harvesting materials from which something special will be born. The fourth – the actual creation of a picture, composition,sculptures, masks, illustrations, embroideries, etc. Some will say that such diversity is not conducive skill and professionalism. Maybe so. But I, as a teacher, need to be interesting to students most of all time to study, to master new art techniques, improve, nourish the imagination, and the art of grinding. And what a miracle when you sit down for a clean sheet of paper – as clean, washed,immaculate world. You feel like a creator. «Apparently, the defining figure of the creator in mine was Serhiy Tanadaychuk,who is alive. I saw him for the first time at the Berdychiv Art School – there he decorated the wall with Petrykivka painting. And I planned to submit to the MAN work on the local master. That’s how we met. At that time, Serhiy was fascinated by vytinanka, and he did not cut out and pulled out, he had them silhouetted, without small details. He told so much about history excerpts that I was just amazed at where those came from knowledge, because there were essentially no books about vytynankas. So Serhiy Tanadaychuk broadened my horizons about this technique of folk art and movement to fascination with vytinanka. Modern masters are active multiply the traditions of folk vytinankarstvo,give new meaning, new qualities and features the present. The technique of vytynanka opens wide opportunities for its application in the field of graphics and design. I will notice that the traditional vytynanka is symmetrical (the paper is folded in half and the image it turns out is balanced). «Easter eggs are another hobby of mine from the times when identification, about national uniqueness,the mentality was unthinkable. Whenever possible, I’m out all sources drop by drop collected information which was scarce. These are the memories of the older generation, and mostly own experiments with paints and tools, methods of storing Easter eggs. I remember the first scribe made of lace, more precisely from a copper tip removed from a lace and tied to a stick. And, oddly enough, it was the best and most comfortable scribe in my life: thin, neat, kept warm for a long time. Ukrainian traditional Easter eggs are painted with hot wax, where each line, sign, color dates back to antiquity and is an inexhaustible source for creativity, through them we are join the knowledge of history, worldview, moral values of our ancestors. If Ukraine did not become independent, Easter eggs would definitely go away into non-existence, and with them – another global piece of our identity. During my life I painted a lot of Easter eggs: only in the Berdychiv Museum of Local Lore I gave about 80 of them»
«Every work of art should not just have beautiful view outside. My job as a teacher and an artist – to convey that every work is embodied thought, it’s deep meaning, it’s an original idea, it’s connection with the national tradition. Why we celebrate a carol? Dazhbog’s wife, Kolyada, became pregnant and was to give birth to the divine Young Sun (New Year) in the longest night of the year. And Mara’s task,a wife of Black God, was to find a carol and destroy it. Christmas carol ran away from her and turned into a goat (unknown then animal), so Mara did not find her. «Fellow artists encourage me to organize my own exhibition. But, unfortunately, it takes a long time,and school is a constant whirlpool of time for one’s own creativity almost not enough .. Maybe in the future finally there will be time to organize an exhibition of my works. One of my plans has already come true: it was a desire to illustrate «Kobzar» of Shevchenko with vytinanky. Carried out this idea in the framework competition organized by the Taras Shevchenko Museum. There was a condition that the book was from beginning to end handmade.
