Since childhood, the library is associated with a place where you need to sit quietly, talk in whispers and tremble that can be kicked out for breaking the rules. With the advent of electronic books and the development of digital technology, some generally forgot about the existence of libraries and their value. But the world does not stand still, thanks to advances in technical progress and librarians’ commitment to modernizing their libraries and, confidently stepping upwards over time, compete with fashionable hubs and coworkings. Now it is possible with pleasure and pleasure to spend an hour or two and visit trainings, exhibitions, conferences, literary cafes or many other interesting events. In order to better orient in the library world and know what we have, we have prepared for you “portraits” of several Zhytomyr libraries, which will encourage you to reflect even the protest retrogrades and skeptics
1. Zhytomyr Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Oleg Olzhich The building in the city center of 1979, the “year of birth”, welcomes the view of futuristic architecture and interesting wallpapers devoted to Olzhich, but this is not the most important.

2. Zhytomyr Regional Library for Youth – a place where you can speak loudly. The main principle of this library’s life is to be on the move: here is the English Explorers Club, where you will be taught basic English for free, which will definitely help you feel comfortable traveling around the world. In summertime, the summer gaming-game is a great chance to play with friends in board games and at some time to hide from the summer heat. Practical psychology, coach Marina Lystopadskaya holds art-therapeutic meetings in the library, and on the Literature Stand-Up, you can exchange impressions about the books you read. There are enough libraries in Zhytomyr so that readers have chosen for themselves an ideal place to read next to their home. Local literature, creative evenings, access to the Internet, the club “Young jurist” with free access to law books, children’s literature, a collection of detectives and meetings with interesting people – is not a complete list of what awaits you in libraries.
