Oleksandr Lytovchenko is an actor of the Zhytomyr Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater named after Ivan Kocherha. The images created by the actor captivate the audience every time, but this does not prevent him from striving for improvement and working on himself. Ahead is the realization of creative plans, new images… At the moment Oleksander shared with Zhytomyr.Travel memories and thoughts about the present

«I come from the city of Lubny, Poltava region, but moved to Korosten. At school, I attended a drama club and played sports – all in order to miss classes. My parents thought that acting was not a serious profession, so after school I first applied to the National Aviation University. As a child I dreamed of being either a pilot or an actor. In Kyiv I realized that studying there is financially difficult and went to Zhytomyr»

«Earlier in Zhytomyr was the Zhytomyr State Institute of Culture and Arts. I did not prepare for the entrance exams, but I knew a few poems from the school curriculum. I told them. After listening to me, the director said, «You are one of the best, we accept you». My parents supported me, although they were not very happy with the idea of studying to be an actor»

«The master in our group was Volodymyr Mykhailovych Oslyak (editor-in-chief – screenwriter, theater actor). This is my mentor and idol. I still follow his example and constantly remember his instructions»

«Being an actor is my destiny, although I got into the theater almost by accident. After the second year, the teachers decided to bring the «youngsters» to audition in our theater. At first I just went to watch and didn’t even think to speak. After everyone showed themselves, they told me: «And what are you standing for, you are learning, then show what you can do». It was my dream to work in the theater, so I got together and started reading a monologue. I was in such a state of stress at the time that I don’t even remember what a monologue it was. It so happened that out of ten people who spoke, they chose me. Then I was given two weeks to adapt, after which I performed on stage for the first time in the play «Thumbnail». And now this is my eleventh season»

«I was lucky – I worked in many genres. I can’t single out any, but I like performing on a small stage the most. It’s great when you play in direct contact with the audience. And I want to play in a big movie. At the moment I played in the series «Agents of Justice» and in the film «Echo»

«There are a lot of actors whose work I like, and I try to take something from everyone to improve my own acting. However, everyone should have their own spark that ignites the viewer»

«To become an actor, first of all you need the desire to improve yourself and hone your skills every day… Going on stage is stressful. And even though I’ve played my eleventh season, I’m always worried. Every time I fight with myself – I just try to direct my energy in the right direction and let go of fear»

«I like to joke before and after the play. Humor in our profession is an important element of relaxation and recreation. Therefore, the more humor, the more lively the actor, the better he conveys the right emotions»

«Beginner actors should listen to the team, listen to every piece of advice and work harder on their role. You constantly need to do your best at 300% and think about how to get better next time. Only due to a strong human desire and hard work the one can achieve some result»

«My wife is a theater actress. The story of our love is quite interesting. In many plays, we played lovers and once realized that we played so hard that we really love each other»

«An actor is a daily job. Even when we don’t have performances, rehearsals take place all the time… In my opinion, theater is a synthetic art form. Why so? There is no awareness in the theater that there is an actor – and everything, or there is a director, and no one else is needed. In the theater, everything is interconnected and everything is interdependent»

«We toured with the theater in almost all regions of Ukraine. And it is very cool that the Ukrainian theater educates the audience from childhood. And we have an understanding of ethics, behavior in the hall. However, there are cases when someone in the hall opens a pack of chips or cookies, or shines a smartphone and distracts others from the play. I notice that over time this behavior becomes less and I hope that someday there will be none at all»

«I enjoy being with my family in my free time. I am still engaged in sports tourism. I have loved nature since childhood, and I have always enjoyed camping or fishing… I like to observe nature and people’s lives. This allows you to better feel the images, to create them in your imagination. Observing people, you can analyze movements, intonations, facial expressions, gestures… And then create them on stage»

«In my work, I like the connection with the audience the most. When you go on stage, you think that everyone is looking at you, feeling your every move and breath. Every time the actors on stage give their energy. When everyone bows, it seems that all these applause is just for you. And such feelings are invaluable, because they inspire and elevate, in such moments you understand, it’s just so cool to be an actor»
