The director of one of the IT companies of Zhytomyr defined the definition of a successful person: “It is he who understands in which world he lives and does not separate from reality”.
Actually, understanding the needs that dictates life, and makes people or projects successful. The public association “Osvitoriia”, which became famous thanks to the Novopecherska school, the IT University UNIT Factory, the charity programs iLearn and the First Profession, is precisely such a project.
On December 29, at the invitation of the mayor of Zhytomyr, Osvitoriia, together with directors, assistants and teachers, held a strategic session on the development of secondary school education in the city.
Talk about urgent issues that prevent education from moving forward and cause dissatisfaction among teachers, took place at the Humanitarian Gymnasium No. 23. What were the expected side of the meeting?
Olena Severenchuk, “Osvitoriia” creative project manager, “Osvitoriia” sector of the project decentralization office in the Minregion, co-founder of “Zhytomyr, Voice Up!”:
“We strive to find creative teachers who become agents of change, recharged others, and filled the educational space with new content. Today, together with the teams of Zhytomyr schools, we will try to think together what challenges we face and what education in modern format should look like. For the sake of the little Ukrainians who will create the future of the world “.
Tetiana Tkachenko, a teacher of computer science, a member of the “Osvitoriia” team:
“We want to try to convince Zhytomyr educators in another way to look at the education system.”
Yana Biletska, a psychologist, a member of the “Osvitoriia” team:
“We liked Zhytomyr, here exactly, calmly. We want to share inspiration for working with children. ”
Igor Khvorostianyi, teacher of Ukrainian language and literature, member of the “Osvitoriia” team:
“I studied at a settlement school. It is difficult, but it is necessary and there to teach children to strive to develop. For this I am here. ”
Oleksandra Zhiganova, Deputy Director of the general school № 36:
“Education really needs to be changed; it’s a requirement of time. Teacher should be flexible and take part in dialogue with the child. Children have to go to school of joy, which is the work of a teacher. We must review the evaluation criteria, approaches to teaching subjects.
Today we are waiting for new impressions, interesting experience “.
Iryna Blazhyievska, Deputy Director of Zhytomyr City Lyceum at ZSTU:
“We are waiting for positive news. It is very important to work with the educators of the lower level. Education needs change, it’s for sure. ”
Nadia Palivoda, Director of the Zhytomyr City College # 34:
“Education reform is definitely needed. But changes should be in content, not in form. I am an indigenous Zhytomyr, Zhytomyr is my city. And what happens here does not matter to me. ”
Dmitro Antoniuk, director of ISM Ukraine, came to the strategic session:
“I am here as a customer of the results of educators, a parent and an employer who wants to work with educated and trained people. My parents want to give the children the will, although it’s harder, takes more time and nerves, but this is what prepares a person for life. ”
Lilia Namysnik, a representative of the private sector in education, founder of the Center for the Development of Children “Harmony of Childhood”:
“At school, safety and the preparation of a child to life are important. That is exactly what this should be taught and that’s what to provide in a modern school. ”
Before the start of the work was made by the mayor Serhii Sukhomlyn. The mayor thanked for his work and explained that as every Zhytomir local wants to see the city flourishing, it is impossible to do this without educators. Deputy Mayor Matthew Khrenov spoke about the city’s vision, the images of the future and the best world experience that could be realized on the territory of the region.
Time will show the productivity of this meeting and the effectiveness of interchange. But one must understand the importance of reforming the system of education: teachers, parents, and city leadership.
