When you ask Zhytomyr citizens about the most majestic place in the city, you’ll definitely hear about Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics named by Serhii Koroliov which is located at 5, Dmytrivska Str. There are lots of pages in the Memorial’s history making it unique and eye-catching even for those who had already seen the most spectacular European and American museums before.
NEARLY 3 MILLIONS OF GUESTS HAVE ATTENDED THE DISPLAY
Throughout its existence, nearly 3 millions of guests have visited the display, spectating at items whereon Zhytomyr generations were grown.
What is so mysterious in those basic by sight constructions?
Local citizens have learned about their great countryman only on his death-day. Before announcing the obituary in USSR, the academician’s name was security-guarded and the house he was born in was luckily left unharmed.
The museum’s opening was an incredible occasion for Zhytomyr. The unknown photographer eternalized all the crowds near the museum and bunches of spectators on the roofs of neighboring houses.
ONLY ON HIS DEATH-DAY LOCAL CITIZENS HAVE LEARNED ABOUT THEIR GREAT COUNTRYMAN
Memorial houses have their own sacred significance: there is something unconventional in that place where the future genius was discovering the world with a curious glance.
Keeping in mind the first steps of the greatest mechanician, the period house is not the only thing which connects us to Outer Space.
In a course of time, the exposition has demanded an enlargement and due to this the new cosmic pavilion has appeared, where equipment, documents and work clothes were located.
Obviously, you can see real food for astronauts who were truly in space, clothes, tools or their personal things only in a mere part of cities in Ukraine. But there are cities, such as Kyiv, Dnipro and Kharkiv where the technical expositions exist with more detailed representations of Ukrainian science and technology’s achievements.
NOT EVERY CITY CAN BE PROUD OF REAL FOOD FOR ASTRONAUTS
Neither memorial nor technical approach has long been making the museum an interesting place to go for children and adults, for technicians and romantics.
As a rule, the world is being changed by dreamers: Ukrainian national artist Anatolii Haidamaka and his creative team headed by Volodymyr Fedorov, have been working on museum’s concept when have seen or even felt it like a piece of art.
THE WORLD IS CHANGED BY DREAMERS
The space, a human, divine – these are components of Universe’s space perception which were mentioned in such genius works as “Master and Margarita” by Makhailo Bulhakov.
As in Bulgakov’s museum-theater the philosophic concept recreates the Absolute of space and its unity.
After travelling throughout the museum one can understand that human’s mind has no limit. Having visited the museum, one usual Zhytomyr youngster Serhii Yakymov decided to go to Mars. Nowadays he is a member of team who passed the inspection for the flight.
HUMAN’S MIND HAS NO LIMIT
The world needs dreamers who strive to make it better. That’s why for a long time we gladly step to museum of an embodied dream – the age-old ream of people to subdue the space and embrace the Universe.
