Georgian cuisine has long and confidently won the gastronomic preferences of Ukrainians. «VashLaVash» is a bakery not just with delicious pastries. This is a whole story, worth a separate telling. And not just about yummies

And how is your pita? Former servicemen of the 30th OMBR, retired officers Oleksandr Vyhovsky and Serhiy Vasylchuk found their own answer to this question and created the first Georgian bakery in the Zhytomyr region, VashLaVash. Zhytomyr became the second city after Novohrad-Volynskyi, where a bakery specializing in making dough products according to Georgian and Ukrainian recipes appeared. Fire and bread are symbols of home, of a peaceful life, which the boys defended, and therefore value in a special way. Oleksandr and Serhiy gained their cooking experience in Vinnytsia, Lutsk, Rivne, Kostopol – cities where Georgian food establishments were already operating. They transformed their love of delicious food into a successful production that has its own gastronomic charm.

VashLaVash Bakery combines the traditions of baking bread and the most delicious pastries: special spices, natural ingredients and the love that bakers put into their work. The restaurant has not so much working, but creative atmosphere: the room is filled with aromas of fragrant spices and fresh pastries. The team is also working on new recipes and expanding the range of the institution. No additives are used for baking in the bakery, only ecologically clean food. In addition, everything is baked, not fried. Seasonings in a bakery from Georgia, cheeses are bought in Rivne, also made according to Georgian recipes. In the mini-bakery «VashLaVash» they bake according to traditional Georgian recipes, but they add love to each dish.
Khachapuri with cheese is delicious and filling, so it will appeal to both those who love calories and those who prefer meat-free dishes. Kubdari is a hearty and spicy dish of Georgian cuisine. Three types of kubdari are prepared here: with veal, pork and chicken. Kubdari stuffing also includes suluguni cheese, tomatoes, sauce and Georgian spices. If you have never tasted a dish before, you will be surprised how such a simple dish can be so delicious and juicy. Sambusa is a highlight of Georgian cuisine. Sambusa includes selected meat and exquisite pomegranate sauce with Georgian spices. If you haven’t eaten it yet, so try it.
Chuda (not a miracle, but…) is a dish you probably haven’t heard of. Chuda includes minced chicken with spices, bell peppers, sauce and suluguni cheese. Natural ingredients and special spices are used in the preparation of tender and juicy fillings. Puff pastry has a variety of fillings: cherries, blackberries, condensed milk, chocolate, cheese. Sweet pastries «VashLaVash» will appeal to connoisseurs. Pay attention to kada. Kada is a popular Georgian dish, the filling of which consists of poppy seeds, honey and walnuts.
Tricks
There is a peculiarity in Georgian cuisine – it is quite spicy. However, the hosts adapt to the tastes of guests, so there is a range of less spicy dishes and sweet pastries. Like true patriots, they add their own Ukrainian to the recipe. The motto of the institution: «Georgian dishes – in the Ukrainian heart». That is why, along with Georgian pastries, Ukrainian pies with cherries and apples are on the shelves of the bakery. The trick is that the dough of the Georgian recipe is unleavened. Kvass and homemade juices are offered as delicacies in the Ukrainian style.
Service
Guests here feel the hospitality and warm atmosphere. On the summer terrace you can enjoy pastries according to national recipes. Quarantine realities are taken into account here – keep the distance, visitors are asked to wear masks, disinfectants are available. Employees of the institution also adhere to quarantine restrictions – they work in masks and gloves.
