They say a happy man who has found his destination. It may seem that a successful career in the IT sphere is a guarantee of harmonious life. But the search for one’s own purpose, the desire to tell the world important things can push for dramatic changes. This is exactly what happened in the life of the young author Victoria Amelina, who triumphantly entered the modern Ukrainian prose and declared himself a novel “November Syndrome or Homo Competens” in 2014. Then “Someone, or the Water Heart”, and finally a family house “House for a Home” saga, presented by Viktoria in the “Lviv Chocolate Workshop”. The conversation took place after the meeting with the connoisseurs of high-quality deep prose, at which, along with the moderator Ihor Shurpan, they became acquainted with the history of the family, about which the white poodle tells the readers the Dominic
“I in Zhytomyr for the second time, of course I would like to visit. My first visit was short but interesting. I came to visit my friend, who met in the Lviv hospital. It was a fighter of the 95th brigade, and for me, Zhytomyr is the city of the 95th brigade. We walked with him, sat in cafes, but in fact it is a sad story, because he is no longer. I promised him to come with a presentation, and here I am here »
“On the one hand, programming and literature are very different. Because programming is something very practical. But, on the other hand, programming also teaches literature to appreciate the word. Because the program will not work if you write a wrong word or even a sign. Likewise, prose will not work if you commit mischief and use inappropriate words. There is a certain connection here that both the program and the literature must work in the device or in a person in a certain way. And it all depends on how cautious and accurate the words are »
“I’m convinced that you need to read to learn and think. There is now a tendency for simplification in the world. Actually, the picture is always a simplification. If they actually screen a good prose, they always lose something. Yes, there are different directors, plurality of interpretations, but if you compare a book and a movie, then the prose will have much more space for interpretations and representations. And that’s why reading teaches you to think and develop an imagination. Therefore, it seems to me that if people read more, it would not be possible that what has been happening in Ukraine for a long time, and in the Western world is now gaining momentum. Politicians become easy to deceive and manipulate with populist slogans. Actually, there is a return of populism. Though it seems that we have no return, we have had it all the time. When I watched a debate between Trump and Hillary Clinton, I was convinced that for Americans such behavior, such overthrowing, rewinding were unacceptable, but it turned out that for a large part of people it was not. It is clear that the ideal world in which everyone will be read by people, we do not see it for a long time, but I’m sure that the more people will read, the better they will vote. In French, “lire” is to read, and “élire” is to elect. It sounds almost the same, and there is some connection between these words in French. It seems to me that this connection is independent of the country and language “
“Of course, it’s a pity that” politics “has turned into a shameful word. It originated in Ancient Greece, where a person who was removed from public life was called the simple word “idiot”. The policy was to balance the interests of different social groups. This policy is also needed. It is clear that we are all different, we have different interests, but someone should personify these interests. By eliminating this, we allow the liars to engage in serious deeds ”
“I lived in Canada very briefly. Emigrated at age 14 with her father, because she got the right to live in Canada. I left, thinking that I would stay there, but after three months I decided to go back. I understand that in 14 years it was an emotional decision, but it was so “
“Lviv has now changed, and when I decided to come back from Canada, I was extremely glad to return. Of course, there was a contrast, but I was not deceived. I remembered that I was returning from wealth to poverty. Just did not want to lose more important things. Money is a resource. I worked a lot, run projects, so for me it’s just one of the resources that I have. ”
“We are poor because we have not learned to live together. By the way, we are not so poor. I travel a lot, was in Nepal, Cambodia. And Ukrainians in terms of living standards are far from poor people. It seems to me that our main problem is equality before the law. We do not have bad laws, they simply do not work. We are not accustomed to the fact that everyone must obey the same rules. This is even banal. We cry out that they steal the bribe politicians. But we immediately go and believe that it’s okay to arrange your child for money at a higher educational institution. But this is absolutely no different! And that is why we are faced with the situation that exists. This is a closed circle, because you think: “If I do not, and all my neighbors will do, why didn’t I do that?” Actually, lack of trust is one of the main problems. We do not want to pay taxes in full, because we do not know if they will go there, the curbs should go. But on the other hand, if we do not pay taxes, then there will be a huge part of the shadow economy, and we will not build anything. If in dry language, then this is the lack of equality before the law, inequality before the law. And at the level of society is a lack of trust “
“We are now seeing horrible entertaining content on television. I have a TV as a device at home, but it is not connected to any network. We connect him to a computer and watch films on it. When I’m in a hotel or somewhere inadvertently facing television, I understand that I fall into a completely parallel world. And if people really watch these broadcasts? It is very worrying. Of course, reading can correct the situation, because if people read, they actually learn to communicate better and understand each other. When you read, put yourself in the place of another person. And when you talk, you can put yourself in the position of the interlocutor, do not crush each other, but get some kind of common thought. It is clear that this improves all communications within the society. Well, as if at the micro level of communication, but it should happen at the level of society as a whole ”
“Memories of childhood? At the presentation I mentioned my dog - a white poodle, the hero of the book. I now for some reason reminded him of it “
“The family saga is not a sad genre. On the contrary, this is a very popular genre. People are interested in reading family history, because they are dragging on. My book is the search for identity, but it is combined or disguised as a kind of family history. And although her mood is nostalgic, but it’s a light book, I am confident in this, because I know what it ends up. And in people there everything will be fine!”
