Nature gives us such wonders that no one will come up with. The tides of wind erosion – amazing rocks, exist in many countries of the world.
The giant rock called the Twelve Apostles in the National Park of Port Campbell in Australia is the center of the tourist complex.
Nothing that the number of natural arrays does not quite correspond to the name: they are only eight.
But all of them are extremely good, and the Australians are very proud of them.
The Michigan state in America has a rock called Ripka and reminiscent of the story of our fairy tale.
Only Ripka grew to the ground of rocky Michigan so that the old man and grandmother would not pull out: he was standing near the town of Port Austin on Lake Huron for many centuries.
Crimean Ayu-Dag is a rock-legend. They say that a huge evil bear, destroying everything in its path, reached Partenit Valley. He leaned to quench his thirst, and he died forever on the orders of the god of the sea, becoming the Bear Mountain, the decoration of the Crimean coast.
Of course, it’s better to see these miracles once than to hear seven times. Whether you arrive to Australia and America is unknown. But to come to Zhytomyr region, which was once called ‘Polissia Switzerland’, it is possible, because we have our own rock-legend.
From the shore of the Teteriv River, there is a fossilized, rigid profile, which Zhytomyr locals call the head of Chatskyi.
And let geologists say that the rock in the shape of the face was formed as a result of the weathering of granite rocks for a long time, romantic legends capture more: ‘And Cossack Chatskyi pursued the persecutors away from his comrades away, and along with the horse jumped from the rock. Milka was a river – the glorious Cossack, like a real warrior, perished. But his true horse, knocking on a hoof, broke the rock, and on her the portrait of the hero was sewn forever. ‘
But not only did Cossack feats left behind by Chatskyi: there is a connection between the Zhytomyr cliffs and the prestigious metropolitan university.
Tadeusz Chatskyi is a historian. With his participation in the early 19th century he organized network of educational institutions in Volyn.
It is for him that we are grateful for the establishment of the Kremenets Lyceum on the basis of which St. Volodymyr’s University was formed in Kyiv, now the National University of T. G. Shevchenko and Volyn gymnasium – Zhytomyr State University named after. I. Franko
These were the ideas in Chatskyi’s head.
And what ideas will come to the head of Chatskyi in Zhytomyr to you?
Coordinates of the rock Head of Chatskyi: 50 ° 14’26.97 ‘N, 28 ° 38’40.53’ E
